A DREAM IN A SUITCASE

VIETNAM

Famiana Resort and Spa Phu Quoc
Vietnam has been a beautiful surprise for me, in so many ways. It is a magical country, with spectacular mountain views, secluded white beaches and lush tropical greenery. Vietnamese people are kind and friendly, going out of their way to give you a memorable experience. The food is delicious, once you get out of your comfort zone and try the local markets and restaurants, which I highly encourage you to do. I would return to Vietnam again and again.
Although, our trip to Phu Quoc Island was unplanned, I am beyond happy that we made it to this beautiful island, where tradition meets the finest luxury. This is exactly what I felt during our stay at Famiana Resort and Spa. Located in the center of Duong Dong Town and just 6 km away from Phu Quoc International Airport, this oasis of serenity is divided into The Beach and Spa section and The Green Villa section. We were able to experience both, enjoying moments of see breeze and sunset at the resort’s private white sand beach, but also peace and tranquility amongst palm trees and singing birds at their Green Villa Zone.
After a warm welcome at the reception, we were driven with a buggy to our accommodation, through a green garden of flowers and trees. Located just a few steps away from the water, our Beachfront Villa was a beautiful summer dream. With a bright and spacious living room and a cozy bedroom at the first floor, you could see and feel the smell of the ocean from any part of the villa. Featuring a raindrops shower cabin and a Jacuzzi bathtub, you are able to pamper yourself in the privacy of your own bathroom. Decorated with delightful paintings, reflecting moments from the Vietnamese culture, this duplex-style villa can be the ideal spot for a perfect getaway.
We spent the afternoon drinking cocktails and relaxing by the pool, which is conveniently located in the center of the resort, giving easy access to any of the rooms. From time to time, we would go for a quick swim into the ocean, to feel the sand between our toes and the sun warming our bodies. What a perfect combination!
After a glorious pink sunset, the falling of the darkness caught us listening to the soothing sound of the waves while watching the stars from our own terrace. The midnight came with the celebration of Emil’s birthday, in the most ideal décor, drinking a glass of red wine and toasting to an abundance of moments like this.
We started our morning with a fusion of European-Asian breakfast buffet at Famiana Restaurant, followed by a birthday cake celebration accompanied by the staff singing the cutest Happy Birthday to Emil. Definitely a memorable moment! I can only hope that I will have the same treatment when my birthday comes. 🙂
Around noon, our buggy came again, to take us to the Green Villa. A “Happy Birthday” bed arrangement, made out of creative origami folded swans and colorful flower petals was waiting for us in our Pool View Bungalow, making Emil feel special and spoiled. The staff definitely went the extra mile to welcome us here as well. I really appreciated the communication between the staff, everyone was well aware of my husband’s birthday and did their best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.
The room, overlooking the pool and the garden, is designed in a modern style, with wooden furniture, big, bright windows and a lovely porch with an oval shaped swing chair, where you can read or simply have a few moments of peace and quiet. Equipped with a bathtub, the bathroom has a rustic style, with stone tiles that give it a natural charm.
Nestled amongst flowery gardens and palm trees lies a 300 m2 swimming pool, with a clear, turquoise water, where we swam and relaxed for the rest of the afternoon. A beautiful reflection of the tall palm trees and pink clouds appeared during sunset and I couldn’t refrain myself from taking tons of pictures. So spectacular!
Next morning, we had a delicious breakfast in bed, while we cozied up in our warm bathrobes. Can’t remember the last time I had breakfast being delivered to me in bed, probably when I was a kid, by my mom. 🙂 We wanted to start the day strong, so we took advantage of the resort’s facilities and tried for the first time archery and played tennis for a bit, although, to be honest, I can’t say I mastered any of these sports. 🙂 Definitely have to practice more!
Our stay at Famiana Resort was a combination of luxury and modern amenities with the traditional Vietnamese lifestyle, creating an exceptional experience for us. Not only because we celebrated Emil’s birthday and felt that they celebrated it with us for a few moments, but because of the kindness and generosity that we were treated with. I left Phu Quoc and Vietnam with a positive, long-lasting impression and would love to come back one day to explore more of its beauty and uniqueness.
